Brady's New Friend

Brady picked out a new friend Friday. I traumatized the boys Friday afternoon by getting them flu shots. They were fine up until the time to go in and get them done. I went first to show them how painless it is, Brady went second, he cried until he got stuck in the arm, and then was fine. Brett went last and one would have thought he was getting murdered. He cried and yelled so loud, I thought the whole clinic heard him. He was fine shortly there after it was kind of funny. SO they had money left over from Halloween and Brithdays, so they picked out a prize each. Brady picked his pupppy and Brett picked out a Spider Droid from Star Wars.

Scouts

In order for Brett to get his Wolf Badge in Scouts, he has to do a few things. One of the things is for him to do chores for a month. He really took to it. Some of the things he has to do is to make his bed, pick up after himself, dry the dishes and dust mop the floor. So I thought I would include a few pics of him helping Bryan with the supper dishes. He will make a good husband some day if he keeps up the good work.

Brady

Brady is a funny little boy. I don't understand him some times. He gets some crazy ideas in his little head. I went down to do laundry after work, and he asked if he could empty out the toy and box, I said sure. He brought down his pillow and blanket and made a mini bed in the toy box. I went down again to do more laundry and there he was laying in toy box under the card table. Don't know why he did that, he couldn't give me an answer as to why he did that. I thought it original. He looked so cute sitting in there, couldn't resist taking a few pics of him.

October Snow

Well we finally got the snow. We had a winter weather advisory in place from 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2nd until 6:00 p.m. Friday. We were suppose to get up to 6 inches of snow. the storm moved out pretty fast, so we only got about 2 inches. The streets were kind of icy this morning on our commute to school and work. One of the aides I work with said the main highway to Fairbanks was really bad and that a car fliped over in the median. So this kicks off the winter season here in Alaska, only 6 more months of winter!Of course the boys couldn't wait to go out and play after school. They had a good time.

Xmas Lights

I am a big Peanut's fan, well mainly Snoopy. I found these lights at the BX last weekend, and couldn't pass them up. i was so excited to find them, because it is getting harder to find Peanut's things.

Nap Time

School really must tucker Brady out. He laid on the couch, using his puppies as pillows and fell asleep. He had a light snack and then crashed. I always like to watch him sleep, he is such an angel when he is sleeping. I had a hard time waking him up to go get Brett from his after school program.

Early snow

We had an early snow fall. It came over night on the 27th of Sept. It was only a dusting but the boys were all excited about it. They thought they could go sledding. Luckily enough the snow is all melted. We are suppose to get more later in the week.

Brett's 8th Brithday

Brett celebrated his birthday on Spet.20th, a day early. We had a very small party for him, with one of his friends, who slept over. We learned our lesson from last time when we had a going away party for him. We had 5 boys sleep over and will newver repeat that mistake again. Any way, we had his best friend Mark sleep over and all went well. We had Anthony's Pizza, and cake. Brett would have picked out a Star Wars cake but the bakery didn't have any decorations for one, so we picked out Over the Hedge. Brett got a lot of Star Wars toys and his favorite was an AT-AT Tank that he wanted. We saved it for last and he was so happy when he opened the present. The boys all behaved. Brett and Mark slept in the basement and fell asleep by 11:30! I was happy that they all behaved and had a fun time.

Science Project

Brett came home one day with a note from his teacher, regarding some homework. It was for a science project made out of recyclables. We made a house/hat. It had to be something that could be worn. So we dug through the recyclable bags and dug a few things out. We used a box cover for the base and an Ice cream box for the base of the house. The roof was made out of a cheerios box. We used a toilet paper core for the chimney. Brett decided to use water and soda bottles for street lights. We cut a milk jug in half, after washing it out good, to use as the hat part. All in all, it turned out great and we had a fun time constructing together.

Tying Shoes

Well I am ashamed to admit this, Brett just learned how to tie his shoes! He has tried in the past only to give up out of frustration. I was talking with the kindergarten teacher I work with and she gave me the tip of sitting behind the child to tie the shoes once or twice for them and explaining what you are doing. I tried this little trick and it worked! Brett knew how to tie his shoes in a matter of minutes. I was so proud of him and he was so excited to be able to do this simple task. He only wants to wear tie shoes now.

Homework

Well after a few days of kindergarten, Brady finally got home. He had to go around the house and count all the itmes in each room that had numbers. He had a fun time figuring out which room had the most things with numbers. We ended up having the kitchen have the most numbers. He also had to draw a picture of one of the items he found, so he chose the microwave. He did a good job.

Denali

We finally decided to take a road trip down to Denali National Park. It is about a 2 hour drive from Eielson. We had a nice day, sunny and not too warm. We got there about lunch time and ate at SubWay. Brett has been wanting to go back to eat there since May. We stopped at some of the local shops in the Village. Got some grat bargains, everything was almost 50% off. I bought some Bearfoot Bears, that I collect, and some T-shirts.The boys picked out some stuffed animals. Brady got a wolf and Brett a Dahl Sheep. We drove into the park as far as we were allowed with our own vehicle. We didn't see any wildlife, which disappointed Brett. He was hoping to see some animals. I was hoping to see a bear, but no such luck. We all had a good time and were happy to get home. The scenery wasa beautiful, it was an enjoyable trip.

Science Project

Brett came home one day and wanted to try out a science experiment, so I said ok. We had to make lemonade and put in an apple and see if it would explode. It didn't, so we tried putting in peanuts and they did nothing either. We had fun trying though. He went to school and reported his finidings to his teacher on the experiment.

All in the Family

We are keeping it all in the family with the boys walking on the treadmill. I do 2 miles miles a day, Bryan runs about 4 times a week. The boys wanted to try out the tredmill, so I let them on day while Bryan was a t work. they had a ball and did good.

First Day of School

The boys satrted school, finally! Brett started on August 20th and Brady on the 27th! Brett's class had a welcome to school breakfast. They had Bagel Bites, Cheese, juice. It was a fun time. He really likes his classroom, first time since we have been here that he had a desk again. Brady woke up extra early the first day of school, he was all excited to ride the bus and get to class. I am told he behaves really nice, hope that continues. He also had a great first day. It's nice that I can be at school too, the obys see me once in awhile when they are walking down the hall.
