We took a mini vacation to Anchorage this week. Bryan took leave and Brett was done with school, so we decided what better time than now to finally get down to Anchorage. It took about 6 hours to get there. It was a nice ride, we drove through Denali National Park, it was beautiful. We didn't see a lot of wildlife, we saw 12 rabbits, 3 caribou, an eagle and a porcupine. There were some patches of snow on the side of the road from Denali southward, the sun doesn't get there all that much. It was cool to drive through there and see the mountains, especially Mt. Mckinley. Brady fell asleep on the way to Anchorage and Brett fell asleep on the way home. We stopped for lunch in Denali Village, we ate at Subway. We overheard one tourist say that he saw a wolf, a bear and her cub on the Denali tour. We will take the tour one of these days. We had a bunch of fun in Anchorage. We stayed in lodging at Ft. Richardson. The Army post is joined to Elmendorf AFB. Both bases are huge, they have some very nice housing. The commissary/BX is huge, can't wait until our new BX is done(May '09). We took the boys to the zoo, they had a blast. We saw Polar Bears, Grizzly Bears and Black Bears. We also saw foxes, caribou, eagles, wolves. The boys took the pictures, so I hope they turn out well. I loved the Polar Bears, they were so cute, and not to mention big. We got to eat at Bradys' favorite breakfast spot, IHOP. The pancakes were awesome! We also went to Red Robin and Chuck E Cheese for a little fun. The boys were tuckered out from that, Bryan too. He loves it there, he likes to play the games. We had a fun vacation. Glad to be home again too though, but it was fun.
