Soaring in to Solstice 2008!

We had an air show Tuesday, June 24th. We were lucky enough to have the Thunderbirds perform for it. They were doing a 2 day show at Elmendorf AFB on the weekend, so they agreed to stop over by us. As always they out on a great show. We also got to watch their practice session the day before. Brett was so in awe of the performance. He thought it was the best thing ever. He enjoyed it more this year than he did when he saw them in Grand Forks 2 years ago. He said he would love to be able to do that. They didn't have a lot of planes on display as the show was suppose to be closed to the public, but they changed their minds on that issue a few months ago. They had the new F-22 on display which is in one fo the pictures. They also had the A-10 warthog, the boys favorite plane, they didn't want to be photographed by it, they were kind of poopers about that. We went on the KC-135 refueler that the guard had on display. Brady never gets tired of going in that plane. Also on display was the Arctic painted aggressor , the F-16, it looks really cool, a Black Hawk helicopter, which Bryan got to fly on last year, when he spent 3 days in the brush for a plane crash during Red Flag. It was a rainy day but a ton of people showed up, it was better than being hot out. The Thunderbirds took the stage at 2:00p.m., and everyone stopped what they were doing to watch. It is always a great show and makes one proud to be associated with the military and to be able to live in this country.
