Presidental Visit

President George Bush made a refueling stop in Alsaka on his way to South Korea, Tahiland and the Olympics. He stopped to address the troops at our fair base of Eielson! How exciting it was to be a part of his stop. He was on base for about 2 hours. The boys and I decided to go and watch Air Force One land and saw that people were still going into the Thunderdome. Brett wanted to see the President, so we decided to follow some other people in, and we passed through security and were on our way to seeing the Commander in Chief. The boys behaved great! I think they were afraid of all the Secret Service people and what they might do to them if they didn't behave. We waited for about an hour before he arrived. We got to see the plane land which was cool. The President talked for about 30 minutes, it went by so fast, I was amazed when he was done. He talked of Iraq and the improvements there and thanked all the military for their service and the families for their support of their military member. Brett was truly amazed by seeing him, it made me feel great knowing that I could give them the chance of seeing George Bush. On his way out he stopped to shake hands with the troops and Brett was hoping to get a high five from him, but we were kind of towards that back of the group. I think Brett would have passed out if that would have happened. We left the hangar and got to see the plane on the tarmac and we were impressed with it's size. I told the boys that there is a bed on there and probably a shower, not to mention a small kitchen. Brett was wondering if the President had Cheez It's and Ice Cream on board. He also was wondering what kind of video games he liked to play. All in all it was a great experience for the 3 of us, one we won't forget. Bryan wasn't as lucky as us to see his Boss. He had to stay outside and take care of security on the gate by the flightline. He did get to see air Force One land though. Who would have thought we would have been this lucky to see a President!
